This year, our dinner will be a bit untraditional. A standard dinner, which can raise significant funds for a school, can also be expensive to produce; it also requires people with already overflowing schedules to give up an entire evening. As an alternative, we have decided to try something a little different – a “Virtual Dinner.” You don’t need to leave home, you will still receive a “dinner” (in a restaurant of your choosing, no less), and you will experience Eitz Chaim, seeing and hearing for yourself what a difference it has made in the lives of our children and their families.
We have just completed our fourth year at Yeshiva Eitz Chaim/The Skill Building Center, and our school has expanded to include 25 students who are growing and thriving. As the only Jewish school of its kind in the area, Yeshiva Eitz Chaim/The Skill Building Center gives children who would founder in a traditional school environment a chance to really succeed.
Because of our individualized program and extremely small classes, our expenses are high, as is our tuition. Many of our parents undergo severe hardship to pay tuition; many more cannot send their children at all. In an effort to help families, we do as much as we can to raise money for scholarships. Fundraising, which is always a challenge, is even more difficult in these trying economic times. We hope this Virtual Dinner will help raise some of the funds so desperately needed.
